These are great with stew or chili.
Ingredients
- Favorite stew or soup
- 1/2 c cornmeal
- 3/4 c flour unbleached
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbl butter
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c milk
Servings: dumplings
Instructions
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cut in butter.
- Beat together egg and milk.
- Combine all ingredients until just blended.
- Drop teaspoonfuls of batter onto hot, not boiling stew, or chili or thick soup.
- Cover pan and simmer dumplings about 20 minutes.
- Serve while still hot.
