We wanted something to drink that was different from tea and coffee. I had a bag of store bought dairy free hot chocolate mix that we liked, but was more expensive then I could afford very often. So we attempted to make our own. It is near enough to the mix that we are happy.
I prefer this with whipped cream, but have not found a dairy free alternative that I like.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup coconut milk powder add more for extra creamy
- 4 Tbl (baking) cocoa/cacao powder
- 6 Tbl coconut sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt opt
Servings: cup
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in air tight container.
To use
- Add 2 or 3 Tbl mix in mug.
- Whisk in enough hot water to make a thick paste.
- Fill mug with hot water and stir well.
- Add whipped cream if desired.
Recipe Notes
Occasionally, the milk powder will clump up. Be sure to break up the pieces before whisking with hot water.
