While we have made extra batches of these for sharing or to have on hand for a quick dessert, we usually skip the jar and just make a batch of these fudgy brownies.
Ingredients
For Jar
- 1 1/4 c flour unbleached
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ⅔ c unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 - 2 ¼ c white sugar
- 1/2 c chopped pecans optional
- 1/2 c chocolate chips optional

Instructions
Prepare Quart Size Jar
- Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt in a quart jar.
- Layer remaining ingredients in the order listed .
- Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next layer.
- To keep jar pretty, wipe out the inside of the jar with a dry paper towel after adding the cocoa powder.
(Optional to gift in jar)
- Attach a tag with recipe name and baking directions.
Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Empty jar of brownie mix into a large mixing bowl and stir well.
- Mix in 3/4 cup melted butter and 4 eggs.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Spread batter evenly into baking pan.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated oven.
- Cool completely in pan before cutting.
