Baklava

A not to sweet dessert that is perfect for special occasions.

Aunt Bonnie’s (Reble) 12 Grain/Seed Bread

We asked Aunt Bonnie for a good bread recipe when we were in Colorado. She was super sweet and gave us this recipe plus all the ingredients that we needed to make it. While Aunt Bonnie found all the ingredients and Adrian ground everything, we enjoyed spending the afternoon just chatting and being able to be with Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Bill. We then walked back “home” to enjoy the rest of our lazy Sunday.

Granola

There are so many different recipes for granola. This one is very versatile, so experiment to find favorite combinations. For example, use all pecans, or add pepitas in place of the almonds. Replace cherries with dried mango slices or peaches. Another option is to try adding hemp hearts or flax seed near the end of baking.

I would recommend keeping track of favorites, because it can become addictive, experimenting to find the perfect granola.

Chocolate Chip, Cherry, Walnut Bagels

While living in Slovakia, Allan was gone many nights. Often I would go to the office with him, play on the computer a little and just be lazy while he worked in the other room. I found a few bagel recipes that were good, but this is my favorite.

Lebkuchen

Ginger cookies are a favorite of ours. This one is easily our favorite recipe for gingerbread men. We discovered the recipe in 2011 while studying Germany and this was one of the recipes we continue to make.

While they are very good plain, they are fun to decorate. It is best to decorate the day you plan to eat the cookies.

Aunt Bonnie’s (McGuire) Whole Wheat Bread

This is my most used, favorite wheat bread recipe. It is super simple to make and it is not “heavy” like many wheat breads are. It makes great sandwich bread and is wonderful toasted.

We usually half the recipe but this bread freezes well.
