This is just a very simple chili recipe with a beef and tomato soup base. It is easy to do in a stock pot, but if you prefer a crock pot, set the settings to low and cook all day.
The seasoning are on the very mild side. Be sure to adjust to your preferences.
Poached chicken is a great way to cook moist chicken for salads or sandwiches. The broth and chicken are good in chicken turmeric soup. The chicken is also wonderful added to Auntie Kristie’s Alfredo.
After making a batch of bread dough, we discovered that our oven died. Instead of throwing the dough away, we decided to try making flat bread with it. The bread turned out much better than expected.
We made the dough and let it sit overnight. The first batch of bread (after about 18 hours sitting) was perfect. The second night’s bread was still good but was starting to taste a little strong (sitting close to 32 hours). We recommend letting the dough set no longer than 24 hours.
As the weather cools down, hot soup is a very easy and filling meal. This recipe has been adapted from a recipe that Mom M. gave to Angie who passed it on to me.
The turmeric is very subtle and more could be added easily without overpowering the other flavors. If you like ginger and garlic, go sparingly at first. They are not super strong, but will quickly overpower the chicken.
