Andrea loves Saltine crackers. She was very happy to discover this easy candy recipe that uses the crackers to add a nice crunch.
These double easily, but Andrea recommends not making more than you want for the day because they are very addictive and you will easily eat more than you plan.
Ingredients
- 20 saltine crackers
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tbl molasses
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup Finely chopped nuts walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Cover cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay saltines in a single layer on top of it.
- Bring butter, sugar, molasses to a rolling boil for three minutes.
- Stir in vanilla and then pour butter mixture evenly over crackers.
- Bake saltines for around 6 minutes or until top is bubbly.
- Carefully remove from oven and pour chocolate chips evenly on top of candy.
- Gently spread chocolate when it starts to melt.
- Sprinkle with your favorite nuts or a little salt if desired.
- Cool (or freeze) for an hour.
- Break into pieces and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
Replace chocolate chips with dark chocolate 🙂
Replace saltines with Ritz Crackers.
