Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Saute butter and onion
  2. Add flour to butter and onions, whisking until smooth and bubbly.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Gradually stir in tomatoes.
  5. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for one minute.
  6. Stir in diced tomatoes and chicken broth.
  7. Combine spices (start with half the salt and sugar) and add to mixture.
  8. Add the warm milk to the soup.
  9. Add more seasonings if needed.
  10. Heat until very warm but not boiling and serve.
  11. Add heavy cream as serving if desired.
  12. Great with grilled cheese and a salad on a cold or rainy day.
